If Anyone is Thirsty

For seven days during the Feast of Tabernacles, a priest walked down to the Pool of Siloam, filled a small golden pitcher, and carried it up to the Temple to pour on the altar, a prayer for rain in a dry land. Then, on the last and greatest day of the feast, the ceremony ended, and the altar fell quiet. Into that silence, Jesus stood and cried out: “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.”

This invitation stands to all of us today. 

Jesus was offering water that satisfies us at the deepest level.
