"Kindness at Home"

We're all pretty good at kindness with strangers and with people who don't really know us yet. It's the ones closest to us who tend to get whatever's left over. Colossians 3:12–15 pushes back on the idea that kindness is just something you're born with or without; it's something you put on, on purpose, every day. This should be especially true with the people who live in our home. According to the Old Testament, Abigail lived in a harsh home. We learn this in 1 Samuel 25. Her husband, Nabal, was a harsh, cruel, and unwise man. But Abigail chose to be wise and kind, and it changed everything. Like Christ, she stood in the gap and stopped evil in its tracks.
