"The Grip of Worry"

Jul 12, 2026    Daniel Kitchel

In this message from Matthew 6 and Luke 10, we look at how worry distracts us, drains our joy, and causes us to miss the moments God has placed right in front of us. Through Jesus’ words about daily bread, the birds, the flowers, and Martha’s anxious service, we are reminded that worry does not prove we care or make us more responsible. It simply makes us live in the wrong day. We are also reminded of the difference between worry and concern. Worry is internal and isolates us. Concern moves us to action and to provide solutions.

Jesus does not shame us for worrying. He lovingly calls us back to trust. Our Father knows what we need; grace is available for today, and we do not have to carry tomorrow before it arrives.
